March 6

Did you know that March 6th is a VERY important day?

It's Daddy's Birthday!!!

Obviously my daddy's birth is the biggest thing to happen on March 6th, but here are a few other things that happened on this significant day:

1. In 1836, the Alamo fell to Mexican forces after a 13 day siege (thanks for that one, Sra. Aston!)

2. In 1857, in its Dred Scott decision, the Supreme Court held that Scott, a slave, could not sue for his freedom in a federal court.

3. In 1944, heavy bombers staged the first American raid on Berlin during World War II.

4. In 1981, Walter Cronkite (not Ron Burgundy, Daddy) signed off for the last time as anchorman of ''The CBS Evening News.''

5. And on the actual DAY my daddy was born, Iraq and Iran signed the Algiers Accord, announcing a settlement in their border dispute. Iraq and Iran must have recognized the significance of Daddy being born, so they decided to play nice.

My daddy shares his birthday with these people -

1. Michelangelo - the "David" is one of the few men in history to have a head of hair that rivals my daddy's

2. Shaquille O'Neal - Hmmmm. Not too much in common with Daddy.

3. Ed McMahon - Since they share the same birthday, does that mean he's going to show up on our doorstep with a big check?!

4. Alan Greenspan - Another money guy who shares my daddy's special day? Is that a sign?!

5. Rob Reiner - He directed one of my daddy's favorite movies, "The Princess Bride." Seriously. Daddy loves that movie. Ask Mommy.

6. Tom Arnold - My daddy is A LOT funnier than this guy.

Hopefully you enjoyed the history lesson. In conclusion, March 6 is a very important day in history for many reasons, but the most important reason of all is that it is my Daddy's birthday.

I hope you like the sign I made you, Daddy. I worked on it all day.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DADDY!

I LOVE YOU!!!!
