Hit Me With Your Best Shot

On Tuesday I had to go to the pediatrician for my one year appointment. After winning everyone over with my flirty smile and big blue eyes, they still stuck me with a bunch of needles. I thought I could charm my way out of the shots, but no such luck.

Would you give a shot to a baby this cute?!

I surprised everyone, though, by only crying for a minute after the shot instead of displaying my normal ten minute drama queen inspired, Soap Opera Digest Award winning reaction.

I was most upset, though, when the doctor told Mommy I didn't weigh enough to switch my carseat to face the front. I have to be a year old and 20 pounds - I only weigh 19 (that's the 30th percentile for those keeping track - Mommy, the teacher, is only happy if I score in the 90's!!) I was so excited to be able to see Mommy and Daddy in the car, but it looks like I'll have to eat a lot more turkey dogs before that happens. Oh, and I'm also 30 inches tall. My legs are getting a bit scrunched facing the back in that seat.

One thing I'm not upset with - my one year photos that Jessica Barnak took. Which one should I use for my head shots at my "Days of Our Lives" audition?! Mommy says I'm a shoe-in with my drama skills.

Fiesta!

What a great party!! I was so happy that all my family and friends could come to our new house to celebrate my birthday. I had so much fun - especially the part when I got to use my hands to eat my first cake. It was 'delicioso!"

Everyone brought such wonderful gifts - I am so lucky! I received a lot of presents to help me learn to speak Spanish with Mommy. Tremendo!

After visiting with everyone, eating, opening all of the presents, diving into the cake and then getting a birthday bath, I was quite tired. Who knew it was this exhausting turning one?!

Thank you so much for coming, everyone. I hope you had a great time - I know I did!! It was the best birthday party a one year old could ask for :)

Three years ago today...

Three years ago today, Mommy and Daddy got married in a beautiful ceremony at Penn State.

I'm so glad they did. If they hadn't gotten married, there would be no me!

I never told anyone this, but the reason I waited over a week to be born last summer was because I really wanted to be an anniversary gift for Mommy and Daddy.

I tried really hard to make my appearance on July 19, but I underestimated how long it would take my nine pounds and two ounces to be born. Oh, well. At least Mommy and Daddy don't have to share their anniversary with my birthday. The day commemorating my birth needs to have its own separate celebration, anyway!

Happy Anniversary, Mommy and Daddy!

Forbidden View

Mommy and Daddy are so busy getting the house ready for my party that they probably won't notice if I climb up the back of the sofa and play on the window sill.
OK, now, think. How do those dogs get on top of these cushions?!

Success!! That wasn't so hard. The view from here is nice. Now I see why the dogs like it so much, even though they aren't supposed to come up here (don't worry, Em and Trix, I won't tell anyone you sleep on the sofa backs when nobody is looking!)

Hmmmm. That was fun for a minute, but now how do I get back down?

Worth the Wait

One year ago today, I was due to enter the world. Someone forgot to tell me, though, because I didn't appear until 8 days later. Actually, I was forced to appear 8 days later!

Wasn't I worth the wait?!

No More Monkeys Jumping on the Bed

Today my cousin Drew and Aunt Amy came over to see my new house. I loved showing them every part of it. Drew really seemed to like the beds in the guest room and Mommy & Daddy's room.

Everytime I jumped up and down on the bed, Drew laughed so hard his mommy had to hold him to keep him from falling over.

Being the consummate entertainer that I am, I kept jumping and jumping to keep him laughing.

OK, enough jumping. Let me take a look at those cankles. Only Drew can make cankles look cute!

Drew's Day

Take a good look, ladies. This dapper dude is my cousin, Drew. He is modeling the latest look, straight from the runways of the Vatican - the Drewie Vitton Baptismal Suit.

Today was Drew's special day. He was baptized at St. Mary's Church in Lancaster. He wasn't crazy about the special 'shampoo' the priest used to wash his hair, but otherwise he was happy to entertain all of the family and friends who shared in his big day.

While I admired Drew's suit all afternoon, it looks like he wasn't too impressed with my pretty dress. That's OK, Drew. You still have a while to learn that you must compliment a lady's outfit, whether or not you like it!

Because I had to sit still for such a long time during the ceremony and lunch (I was supposed to be quiet, too, but I just had too much to say while I was in church,) I needed some playtime after lunch. Drew's cousin, Lauren, was nice enough to play with me and keep me occupied. She was a lot of fun!

Here's a photo of me with Mommy and Daddy. There aren't too many of these (since Mommy is the one usually behind the camera making silly noises to get me to smile), so Mommy was happy to have this one taken today.

Congratulations on your baptism, Drew! Thanks for inviting me.

Yankee Doodle Babies

For my first Fourth of July, we celebrated our independence from the Eden Resort Inn by having our good friends Sean, Jessi, Ally and Noelle over to our new house for a barbeque. They were our very first guests! We hope they had a good time.

I showed Noelle all the toys on my exersaucer. She really seemed to like it. We had a great time chatting and sharing toys. We're going to be quite the dynamic duo when we get older. Watch out!

Noelle tried to figure out why I don't have as much hair as she does. She is as stumped as everyone else.

Noelle's older sister, Ally, played with Trixie and Emmet all day long. When it was Ally's nap time, Trix and Em took a well deserved rest, too. Mommy & Daddy were very happy that Ally wore them out!

Mommy and Daddy cooked some lip-smacking good food for the barbeque. They are both so excited to have a kitchen again. Wanna come over for dinner?

PS - Check out Noelle and Ally's blog, "Sean's House of Divas" (under "links" on the right side of the page). Noelle and Ally's Mommy is a VERY talented photographer and took some great shots of our Fourth of July fun day. Don't miss them - go now!
