Move Over, Vidal Sassoon

At Mommy's Magnificent Mops, you receive only the best service at a reasonable price. Want to have your bangs cut? The owner/stylist will wait until they get in your eyes, become sticky with all the food you eat, and grow almost long enough to touch with your tongue. She saves you money by only trimming once a year!
Relax in the comfortable chair in her kitchen, even though it might mean that you get duped into believing you're about to get a yummy meal. After a few clumsy, awkward strokes of the kitchen scissors, however, your forehead will begin to feel a breeze it hasn't felt in weeks. If you're not satisfied with the results you get at Mommy's Magnificent Mops, she'll provide you with a free beverage to quell your anger.
While she doesn't provide a mirror to see the results, you can always just glance up to see how your newly trimmed, somewhat boy-like bangs now look.

And in case you're feeling self-conscious about the short boy-do, Mommy will dress you in a sweater with a big "B" on it, just to add to strangers' assumptions that you are a cootie-filled boy. Results at Mommy's Magnificent Mops are guaranteed, or she will send you a long white wig free of charge. Call to book your appointment now!

Still Happy Valley

Penn State - 10
Michigan - 17

Mommy and Daddy left me at home to spend the weekend in this luxury suite on wheels. They had a blast reliving old Penn State memories with five of their good college friends (plus a new friend from New Jersey and a PSU friend from Ohio!)
Even a loss at the paws of the Wolverines couldn't dampen the spirit of their camping adventure. Mommy said that nobody can take the Happy out of Happy Valley. Who could be sad when you have great friends, intense corn hole games, long walks downtown trying to avoid the mounted police horse poop, looooooooong lunches at The Deli, the discovery of a secret entrance to The Den, and lectures from Daddy about conserving water and electricity in the RV?!
Mommy said it was VERY windy both days at the RV park. If you had taken me, I could have handled the wind with my Penn State hoodie. I know how to bundle up with the best of them. And I would have kept you company by cuddling on the couch with you at night while Daddy slept with Matt and Ami. Someday you'll have to explain that whole sleeping arrangement to me. I could have also shown the 110,000 fans at Beaver Stadium how to properly handle the "White Out" pom poms. Even though I had a great time with Nana and Gramma this weekend, I'm still a little bitter that you thought I was too young to party with the grown ups. If you want me to go to Penn State when I'm older, you need to start teaching me now how to party - er, I mean how to be a responsible student.

Charlotte's Shout Outs - Week 7

1. The 110,000 fans who tried to "White Out" Michigan. You almost succeeded - even grumpy Lloyd Carr commented on the very loud and electric atmosphere. Maybe if Mommy and Daddy had taken me to the game, my loud yell could have been the difference maker.

2. Jay Paterno - As the quarterback coach, you get a shout out for having the foresight to have a couple of quarterbacks on stand-by. Who knew that our QBs would start dropping like flies? You did, obviously, since you seemed to have a warm body to send out everytime one of them was flattened by Michigan.

3. AJ Wallace - By returning the opening kick-off to midfield, you made us believe that we had a chance against the mighty Wolverines. Thanks for keeping it exciting.

4. Mommy says that Daddy, Sean, Matt and Kalpen deserve a shout out for their expertly designed and constructed "Wind Blocker Grande." Thanks to your hours of planning, hammering and hanging, nobody at the tailgate had to worry about their cups being knocked over by the wind. Those engineering degrees proved to be worth the price of tuition!! :)

Inbetween the millions of kisses Mommy gave me when she got home, she told me that she hopes I have as great a college experience as she had. The best part of having such a wonderful college experience is being able to relive it and share it again many years later with a great group of friends.

Check out "Sean's House of Divas" to see some fantastic photos of the "White Out Weekend."

Will The Real Charlotte Please Stand Up?

Hey, wait a minute. You look familiar. Do I know you?

You're really cute. Let me touch your face to see if that helps me remember how I know you.

Oooooooh. Mommy just told me that you're me. Jessi took a beautiful photo of me, blew it up Charlotte-size, put it on a canvas, displayed it at her awesome Home Show booth, and then gave it to Mommy to keep. My cheeks are just irresistible - I must kiss me!

Where are you going to hang me, Mommy? I think there's a spot available next to the Mona Lisa.

Thank you SOOOO much for the canvas, Miss Jessi. Now I get to look at me and see what the fuss is all about!

Home Shows, Buckeyes and Gophers - Oh My!

Penn State - 28
Minnesota - 27

Mommy was at the Delaware Home Show yesterday helping Jessi with her STUNNING photography booth. While I watched the game and had fun with Daddy all day, Mommy and Jessi talked to a lot of potential clients for Jessi's business.

Pop quiz: Who is that beautiful girl in the black skirt on the easel to the right?!

Inbetween schmoozing with visitors to the booth, Mommy and Jessi had to defend their Penn State pride to the crazy Buckeye pole-barn vendor across from them. It wasn't easy standing up for their team as they received text messages from Daddy updating the score of the game.

For a while it seemed like the crazy Buckeye vendor might have more ammunition as Minnesota kept the game close. Too close. Can I look, yet? My little heart can't take the stress of overtime games.

I finally had something to smile about when Kevin Kelly made the extra point to win the game in overtime. Mommy and Jessi cheered when they got the final score from Daddy, as did many people in nearby booths and passerbys after they heard the news.

Charlotte's Shout Outs - Week 6

1. DT Jay Alford - Daddy said you played like an animal yesterday. You stopped seven plays, four for losses, both career highs. Way to stuff those Gophers!

2. Tony Hunt - Once again, you got the job done. You rushed for 144 yards and two touchdowns. It was your 4th 100 yard+ game this year. Would our running game even exist without you? Please don't EVER get hurt.

3. Morelli and Williams - You connected on a 56 yard bomb, which was the longest in both of your careers. Let's see that more often!

4. Poz - Another frequent Shout Out recipient. You recorded nine tackles (all solo), becoming just the third Penn State player to post 300 tackles in a career. Explain to me again why the Buckeyes were crying that you beat AJ Hawk for the Butkus award last year. Oh, that's right - because it hurts them to admit that you're the BEST LINEBACKER EVER!

5. The Penn State Football Team - You've had 3:30 games outside all season. Yesterday you had to wake up early and play at 11am in a dome against a bunch of silly Gophers. Whose bright idea was it to play football inside on fake grass? Isn't it hard for the gophers to dig their tunnels on astroturf?

Next week, Mommy and Daddy are leaving me with Nana and Gramma to take an RV with 6 good friends to the PSU - Michigan night game. Have a great time without me. Don't worry, I'm not at all upset about missing the White Out, the tailgating or the electric atmosphere of Beaver Stadium. I'm hoping Nana and Gramma spoil me so much I forget that I wasn't invited!

Hair Apparent

The day has finally arrived!I finally have enough hair to sculpt into a mohawk in the bathtub! It only took 14 and a half months. My hair is now long enough to blow in the wind, whether it be manufactured......or natural wind. I might have to try some of that hairspray stuff I've heard about so my newly grown golden locks don't look messy. Mommy never thought I'd have enough hair for bedhead. Take a look at this, Mommy - bedhead at its finest!Elmo, I'll only allow you to see my hair in this disheveled state. What's this? Could I actually have enough hair that it's starting to curl at the bottom?! Just don't let it turn into a mullet, Mommy. Daddy tried that look when he was younger - I don't want to make the same mistake.I always thought this comb was just something yummy to chew on (with the two whole teeth that I have.) I guess now I'll have to keep it out of my mouth - I don't want my sticky saliva ruining these gorgeous tresses.
My hair has come a long way since July 20, 2005, don't you think?

A Plea to the Tooth Fairy

Dear Tooth Fairy,

Some of my older friends explained to me that you come in the middle of night to take away their baby teeth and leave them money in exchange. I was wondering if you knew who was responsible for bringing the teeth to babies in the first place? Is it you, or is there some sort of Tooth Elf, Tooth Stork or Tooth Gnome in charge of that?

The reason I'm asking is because I'm 14 and a half months old and still only have my bottom two teeth. I watch Mommy and Daddy brush their teeth and am envious that I don't know what it feels like to stroke those soft bristles across a row of pearly whites.

I observe my friends chomping on full size pretzels and apples while Mommy has to break mine into teeny, tiny pieces for my practically toothless gums.

My Gramma Betsy takes care of teeth for a living. I feel like a failure as her granddaughter for not having teeth for her to take care of yet. I can hardly bear to smile anymore!
I doubt I could even pass as a jack-o-lantern this Halloween. Don't they have more than these two measly bottom teeth? As you can see, I am a little long in the tooth to have only two teeth. If you could send a few more my way or talk to the Dental Deity in charge of this matter, I'd really appreciate it. Doesn't this mug deserve some chompers?

Love,

Charlotte

PS - If I ever do get teeth just to lose them when I'm five or six years old, make sure you compensate me well for the loss. You can probably imagine how upset I'll be when they become loose and fall out.

Everyone Wants a Butler

Penn State - 33
Northwestern - 7

Almost as highly anticipated on Sundays as "Desperate Housewives," here's my scoop on the latest PSU football game.

I'm trying to do my best to catch the ball as well as Deon Butler, but my hands aren't quite big enough to handle the football. I'll keep practicing, though. I only have to catch 11 passes for 216 yards to beat Butler's new single game receiving yardage record! Hmmmm. It doesn't seem to be any easier to hold onto the ball at my favorite new resting spot - the bottom two stairs. I come here often now to relax, collect my thoughts, and look out the front door. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to help improve my ball control skills. I think this is a job best left to those who are really talented, like Deon Butler. I'll wait here at the bottom of the stairs with my football, Deon. Come to my house and we can play catch. If you can catch the ball from a cute but athletically challenged 14 month old, those wayward throws from Morelli shouldn't be a problem.
Charlotte's Shout Outs - Week 5

1. Of course, the loudest Shout Out is reserved for Deon Butler for his record breaking performance. Don't be too mad he broke your record, OJ McDuffie. You'll still be remembered as the "Good OJ" from football.

2. PSU Defense: Every game you boys get better and better. Poz, you had ten tackles and helped the defense allow only 81 rushing yards. Someday the offense will match your greatness, Big D. You guys aren't just Linebacker U this year - you're Defense U.

3. Beaver Stadium - Although it is a bit against the "no names on the jersey" philosophy, it's about time you give some props to the great teams in the history of Penn State Football. You finally displayed all undefeated and championship teams on the luxury suites (of which I hope to own one someday - start saving now, Daddy!)

The last Shout Out goes to my friend Ally, who turns 4 this week. Thanks for inviting me to your party yesterday. I had a lot of fun helping you play with your new toys. Mommy has a good photo of you blowing out your candles, but for some reason Blogger won't let her upload it right now. Hopefully she'll be able to post it soon. Happy Birthday, Ally! I want to be just like you when I'm 4!!

Got Candy?

Last weekend Gramma Betsy brought me this cool bat to hold my Halloween candy, and I've been carrying it around ever since. Mommy tried to tell me that Trick or Treat night isn't for over a month. Since I don't know what a month is, I'm going to carry the basket around all the time just in case someone has candy they want to donate to my bat.

Is it Trick or Treat night, yet? It's getting dark - shouldn't we leave now before the other kids pick out all the good stuff first?

Is there any candy over there? Go on. Look for me. I'll wait here in case some loot magically appears at the bottom of the stairs.

People are always giving treats to dogs. Maybe if I do my best pug impression they'll throw me one.

Let me check again. Yep. Still empty.

Who knew that a month would seem like such a long time?! It's tiring looking for candy. Maybe when I wake up it will be Halloween.
