Outback Bowl, Here We Come!

Penn State - 17
Michigan State - 13

Whew! We just squeaked by with that win, didn't we?
While my beloved Nittany Lions didn't have the greatest season, at least we still get a New Year's Day Bowl. The Outback Bowl might not be the most glamorous of the bowls, but now we have an excuse to go to Outback Steakhouse and get that artery hardening Bloomin' Onion.

Charlotte's Shout Outs - Week 12, final week of the regular season

1. POZ, POZ, POZ! I think you've gotten a shout out every week. You get my Shout Out of the Year award. Not only are you the best linebacker EVER, you are also humble. You are what Troy Smith, who will likely win the Heisman, is not.

No matter who you play for in the NFL, you will always be a Nittany Lion.

Offensive players in the Big Ten think their bodies are a little safer with you leaving. Little do they know Dan Connor is going to do his best to carry on your tradition of excellence.

2. OK, I guess there are other players on the team. Andrew Quarless, you had a career high 87 receiving yards yesterday and caught your first TD pass. Are we witnessing the arrival of the next Kyle Brady? (I don't know who Kyle Brady is, but Mommy and Daddy say he was one of the greatest PSU tight ends ever.)

3. Nittany Lion - You are so powerful - you can get almost 110,000 people to chant "We are Penn State" at your whim. Maybe someday I'll have that kind of power. Until then, though, I will continue to love you and hope to meet you in person someday.

4. Seniors - Even though you gave Mommy and Daddy some headaches over the last four years, we all still love you and thank you for giving us something to look forward to every Saturday in the fall. And we will never forget your defeat of the OSU Buckeyes that great night in Beaver Stadium a little over a year ago. You wore the uniform proudly. Good luck in the future! ONTO THE OUTBACK BOWL!

On another note, Happy 1st Birthday to my partner in crime, Noelle. This is a bit of an old picture, but it's the most recent I have of the two of us.
I hope you feel better and have a WONDERFUL birthday!!

Charlotte's Web Turns 100!

This marks the 100th post on "Charlotte's Web!" The blog to let everyone know what is going on in my life started with this photo on February 18, 2006. Who knew it would become such a phenomenon?!Let's look at the stats in my handy dandy stat book. As of the writing of this post, my little piece of the web has received 9,282 hits. Mommy didn't even add the stat counter to the site until a month or two after it was launched, so who knows how many actual hits it has received since the very beginning! We have also received a total of 137 comments - some of you like to add your two cents more than others (Hi, Drew!)

In the 272 days that "Charlotte's Web" has been available to the masses, there has been an average of one post every 2.72 days. I guess I give Mommy lots of material from which to post!

A lot has happened since I became a web celeb...

Mommy and Daddy moved us from my birth state of Ohio to go back to their home state of Pennsylvania. I am SO glad they moved us closer to all my grandparents, great grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousin...you get the picture!I learned how to eat food that wasn't pureed.I got my first illness in May. Stomach bugs are no fun - I don't recommend getting one!I created a new breed of dog - the Chug.We moved into our beautiful new house in July. I have so much more room in which to explore and get into trouble!I turned one year old!I became a fugitive and ran from the law with a great disguise.

I created the "Charlotte's Shout Outs" for every Penn State football game. I only wish the season had turned out a little better so my "Shout Outs" would have been longer every week. There's always next year!
As you can see, lots has happened since I started my blog. All this reminiscing makes me thirsty. Let's put on our jammies and Daddy's hat, have a drink and think about all the crazy stuff I'll be doing in the next 100 entries! Thanks for logging on!

Come back again soon!

Charlotte and the City Spider

For Mommy's 30th birthday on Saturday, Daddy took her and their two good friends from Ohio (Heidi and Drew) to New York City for the day. On a gorgeous fall day, they walked all around NYC, saw "Avenue Q" on Broadway (which although it had puppets, Mommy said it was NOT a show for me!), ate lunch and dinner at great restaurants, and drooled over the counters at Tiffany and Company. To Daddy's dismay, they did not see any celebrities.

I stayed home and had a great weekend with Gramma Betsy. When Mommy and Daddy came home, they gave me a Charlotte the Spider toy they bought at FAO Schwartz. This will probably be the only time I don't scream when there's a spider on my head!!

Mommy was so excited to see that the main display at FAO Schwartz is for the "Charlotte's Web" movie coming out next month. She told me she can't wait to take me to FAO Schwartz when I'm older.

Here are Mommy and Daddy and Heidi and Drew taking the tourist photo in Times Square. They couldn't believe how warm it was!

Mommy and Daddy thought "Avenue Q" was hysterical. They highly recommend it to anyone (over the age of 18!)

Mommy hopes to take me on a walk around Central Park someday. Isn't this gorgeous?

Charlotte's Shout Outs - Week 11

While Mommy and Daddy were enjoying Mommy's birthday celebration in NYC, Penn State was playing a game without their Lion King, JoePa. Yes, it was only against Temple, but it was still hard to watch a game without JoePa in the stadium. JoePa gets the biggest Shout Out in hopes that it makes him better!

1. Poz had another amazing game - big surprise! He led the defense to their 2nd shutout of the season, holding the Temple offense to only 2 first downs and 74 total yards. If you don't win all the postseason linebacker awards, then everyone who votes is stupid (Mommy just reprimanded me for saying that - I meant that everyone who votes is severely underinformed!)
2. Gramma said this game was the "Tony Hunt show" and she was right! Tony, you had 167 yards, FOUR touchdowns, and you are now over 3,000 career yards. You are as unstoppable as I am when I am running around my backyard. Keep running!

Future 'Project Runway' Winner

Mommy came to get me up from a nap to discover my newest design in PJ wear for toddlers. It's a one sleeve, asymmetrical pink and white striped squirrel one piece ensemble. I designed it with the sweaty baby in mind - those who have a higher than normal body temperature will appreciate the extra air offered by the one sleeve construction.
This look can be seen in all the chicest nurseries in New York and Paris.

Who says you can't be stylish while sleeping?

Twenty Pounds!!

After inhaling all of my meals the past few months like a Penn State linebacker, I have finally reached the twenty pound mark!!

I had my 15 month doctor appointment today (yes, I know I'm almost 16 months old - my mommy is late for everything!) I'm 31 inches tall and in great health. I'm still only 20th percentile for weight, but I'm working hard to score higher next time. Pass me some potatoes...and some spaghetti...and some crab cake...and some fig newtons...

The doctor even said that my whines of protest when he was examining me were signs of intelligence! He was right - I knew I'd get animal crackers from him if I protested enough!

Mmmmmmmmmm....these animal crackers are delicious! I should have eaten these right before I got on the scale.

Even though I was upset about getting more shots, I knew I'd be happy to get home to play with the new toys Grandma Diane & Alpa sent.

I need to practice protecting the football when I hit the ground. Maybe I should get Tiki Barber to give me some tips. He seems to have it figured out!

Penalty! Emmet, I think you've stepped over the line of scrimmage.

I LOVE taking things out of boxes. And then putting them back in. And then taking them back out...

Thank you so much for the great toys!!

I would like to send out a big "CONGRATULATIONS!!" to our Canadian friends Paul and Julie on the arrival of their son, Elliot Francis. He came on Oct 18, but they've been a bit busy with my future boyfriend (sorry, Evan - I do need to date a bit before I marry you) and didn't get a chance to announce him until now. Bring that Baby Canuck to the States sometime soon. I'll be a good tour guide!

Charlotte - The Cute Choice

Forget about the hotly contested PA Senate race. The real race is for President of the United Cute Toddlers of America.

Charlotte, member of the Funcratic Party (Vice Presidential Candidate - Elmo), will spend your tax dollars wisely. She will only buy chic and stylish outfits for work, and she will only shop twice a week. Charlotte is committed to saving the environment. She will only drive vehicles with good gas mileage (and with good 'cute value.')
Charlotte will not waste your money by buying expensive bottled water at work. She gets her nourishment right from the tap. Charlotte will take time to listen to the little people. She will always lend a caring ear to those in need.
With Lancaster County as part of her district, she will support local dairy farmers by consuming large amounts of milk with her breakfast...

...and during her lunch breaks.
Charlotte does not shop at high end boutiques like some of her opponents. She shops where her people shop - the mall and Target. And she waits for the sales, just like her people do, to keep her lifestyle in the 'real world' where her constituents reside. Charlotte is in favor of tightening our borders. She believes that illegal alien-looking pets need to be kept out.

I'm Charlotte Elise, and I approve this message.
